Former Monadnock Peer Support directed indicted for allegedly embezzling nearly $200,000

Christine Allen, former executive director of Keene-based Monadnock Peer Support (MPS), faces federal charges for allegedly embezzling nearly $200,000 from the mental health nonprofit. The indictment claims Allen, 50, misused MPS funds between 2021 and 2023 for personal expenses, including Amazon orders, home renovations, and recreational equipment. Charged with four counts of wire fraud, Allen could face up to 20 years in prison per count if convicted. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and IRS.

Hannah Grimes Center announces leadership transition, welcomes new executive director

KEENE, NH – The Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship, a nonprofit dedicated to rural economic development, has named Julianna Dodson as its new Executive Director following the departure of founder Mary Ann Kristiansen. Dodson, who currently leads the Radically Rural program and serves as Deputy Executive Director, is credited with shaping HGC since its founding in 2006, leaves a legacy of community support for entrepreneurs in the Monadnock Region.

AP Race Call: Democrat Maggie Goodlander wins election to U.S. House in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District

Democrat Maggie Goodlander won election to a U.S. House seat representing New Hampshire on Wednesday, holding the seat for her party. She will succeed Democratic Rep. Annie Kuster, who is retiring after six terms in Congress. Goodlander is a former senior White House aide and is married to Jake Sullivan, President Joe Biden’s national security adviser. She defeated Republican Lily Tang Williams, who also ran for the seat in 2022 and finished third that year in the Republican primary. The Associated Press declared Goodlander the winner at 1:07 a.m. EST.
