CONCORD, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – New Hampshire health officials announced Friday that residents who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will get their full allotments for November.

According to the state Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), payments are being processed so that SNAP recipients can access their funds on their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards over the weekend.

Governor Kelly Ayotte tells WMUR-TV the state will continue working to support its most vulnerable residents during the ongoing federal government shutdown. “We’re going to keep working to ensure our most vulnerable citizens get the services they need for as long as this shutdown continues,” Ayotte said, adding that the federal government must reopen to prevent further disruption to essential programs.

The announcement followed news that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) would comply with a court order requiring the Trump administration to fully fund SNAP benefits for November. On the same day, the administration asked a federal appeals court to block that ruling.

State officials confirmed that applications for SNAP benefits will continue to be processed throughout the federal government shutdown.

Mobile food pantries were deployed across the state earlier this week in response to the halting of SNAP benefits. The Community Kitchen in Keene was set to distribute emergency food boxes to active SNAP recipients every Saturday in November at the Keene Public Works Department. The first scheduled distribution on November 8 has not been cancelled at this point.
