Fast Friends Yard Sale and Bake Sale

8 a.m.-2 p.m., Fast Friends Greyhound Adoption Center, 14 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey. Shop new and gently used items, baked goods and enjoy a hot dog lunch while supporting care for adoptable greyhounds and sighthounds. Admission is free.

Biodiversity in the SuperSanctuary: Mini BioBlitz at Bailey Brook

9 a.m.-noon, Kulish Ledges Trailhead, 520 Old Stoddard Road, Nelson. Naturalists Nate Marchessault and Kate McKay will lead a leisurely search for insects, plants, mushrooms and other signs of life along Bailey Brook. Participants should bring a smartphone or tablet with the iNaturalist app installed. Registration is required.

History Alive

10 a.m.-3 p.m., 25 Jones Road, Hillsborough. Re-enactors representing the Viking, Medieval, Roman, French and Indian War, Civil War and World War I and II eras will recreate battles and everyday life from different periods. The event also includes gold panning and a comics workshop. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and free for children. The event continues Sunday.

17th Annual Fairy House Day

10 a.m.-2 p.m., Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St., Peterborough. Visitors can search the grounds for fairy houses, build their own fairy house and take part in fairy- and gnome-themed activities. The free, drop-in event is geared toward ages 2 to 92, with children accompanied by an adult.

Historic Farmstead Tour

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Scott Farm, 707 Kipling Road, Dummerston, Vt. Explore the historic core of the farm, which has been cultivated since 1791, and learn about its evolution into a nationally recognized heirloom apple orchard. Admission is free.

Community Tarot and Intuitive Arts Readings

Monadnock Music Summer Gala: Opera Around the World

6-8:30 p.m., Peterborough Town Hall, 1 Grove St., Peterborough. Monadnock Music and Raylynmor Opera team up for a summer fundraising gala featuring opera, food, auctions and performances by professional singers. Tickets are $125, with tables for six available for $750.

Pie and Tart Festival

Noon-1:30 p.m., Brattleboro Food Co-op, 7 Canal St., Brattleboro, Vt. Sample homemade sweet and savory pies and vote for the People’s Choice winner in the baking competition.
