BURLINGTON, VT (MyKeeneNow) A woman who accompanied her then-partner during a failed attempt to rob a Vermont marijuana dispensary in 2024 has been sentenced to federal prison.

Meghan Cox, 39, of Laconia, received a 20-month federal sentence for her role in the August 2024 attempted robbery that later escalated into a two-bank crime spree carried out by co-defendant Christopher Boisvert. A U.S. District Court judge in Burlington, Vt., handed down the sentence this month, ordering Cox to report to prison on Dec. 2. Her punishment also includes three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.

According to federal court filings, Cox admitted to conspiring with Boisvert to obstruct and interfere with commerce by robbery. Prosecutors said she accompanied him to Rolling Twenties, a Rockingham, Vt., dispensary, wearing a hat, gloves, and a facemask as they attempted to get inside.

Boisvert allegedly threatened an employee before the pair were turned away and left the scene. While the dispensary robbery never materialized, authorities said the attempt marked the beginning of a violent stretch that ultimately led to two bank robberies later that same day.

Boisvert, 37, who was living with Cox in Swanzey at the time, was sentenced in October to more than six years in federal prison after pleading guilty to robbing TD Bank in Bellows Falls and Brattleboro Savings & Loan. He made off with $7,500 before investigators tracked down the pair’s abandoned getaway vehicle in Massachusetts. The couple later attempted to report the vehicle stolen in what prosecutors described as an effort to mislead investigators.

Cox was not charged in the bank robberies but was held responsible for her role in the earlier attempted dispensary heist.
