WINCHESTER, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A dump truck towing an excavator collided with a U.S. Postal Service vehicle Tuesday afternoon near the entrance to Monadnock Speedway, according to Police Chief David Rice.
The northbound dump truck, which Rice said was towing an excavator, struck the rear of the postal truck around 2 p.m., prompting a response from New Hampshire State Police, as well as Winchester police and ambulance crews. The postal truck was slowing down to make a left-hand turn before it was struck. The driver of the postal vehicle was taken to Cheshire Medical Center, Rice said, with unknown injuries.
Route 10 saw significant traffic impacts. The road was fully closed by 2:05 p.m., and as of 2:40 p.m., the northbound side remained shut down while crews worked on recovery. One lane was open to alternating traffic.
The accident is under investigation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
