Metro ServicesFinal call for volunteers to sign up for Green Up Keene 2026, with remaining cleanup areas still available and supply pickup set for Saturday.

KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) City officials are making a final push for volunteers to sign up for this year’s Green Up Keene event, set for Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Organizers say several cleanup areas across the city remain unclaimed, and community members are encouraged to step in and help spruce up local streets, parks, and trails. A map of available locations is posted on the city’s website, with any areas not shaded in green still open for adoption. Locations previously held by volunteers but not renewed are also now available.

Those interested in participating can select an area and sign up by contacting Andrea Bixby at the Keene Public Works Department by email or phone. Volunteers may also stop by the Public Works facility at 350 Marlboro St. this Saturday between 8 a.m. and noon to be assigned a location in person.

For those already registered, supplies can be picked up ahead of time by arranging a visit, or by using the drive-thru supply station at Public Works during the same Saturday morning hours.

Green Up Keene is an annual community cleanup effort that typically draws several hundred volunteers each year. Participants collect litter throughout the city using blue “NH the Beautiful” bags, which are later gathered by city crews. Dumpsters will also be placed around Keene in advance of the event to assist with disposal.

Organizers say the effort not only improves the city’s appearance but also strengthens community connections.

Anyone still interested in helping can review the map and claim a location in advance or simply show up on the day of the event and be assigned an area that needs attention.

Residents can also sign up for future updates by subscribing to the city’s “Green Up Keene” email list through the municipal website.
