KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) WKBK Radio, part of the local Monadnock Media Group, has transitioned its national news affiliation from CBS News to ABC News Radio beginning Thursday, May 21, bringing new national news programming and weekend talk shows to listeners across the Monadnock Region.
The change connects WKBK with ABC News Radio, the nation’s largest commercial radio news network, which provides news and entertainment content to more than 1,400 radio stations and digital distributors nationwide. The network has received recognition from the Radio Television Digital News Association for overall excellence in network radio journalism.
As part of the transition, several new weekend programs will be added to the station’s lineup.
Listeners can hear Brad Mielke and ABC News Start Here Saturdays from 5:06 a.m. to 6 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon. The program takes an in-depth look at major national and international stories and examines how those events affect Americans’ daily lives.
WKBK will also add two nationally syndicated programs focused on technology and home improvement.
The Kim Komando Show, hosted by technology expert Kim Komando, will air Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. The program covers consumer technology, cybersecurity, digital privacy and emerging tech trends.
Meanwhile, home improvement specialist Gary Sullivan will bring his program At Home with Gary Sullivan to WKBK on Sundays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., offering advice on home repairs, renovations, maintenance and remodeling projects.
The affiliation change marks the end of WKBK’s longstanding relationship with CBS News. To commemorate that history, the station plans to air a special retrospective over the Memorial Day holiday weekend highlighting the 100-year history of the CBS network.
Station officials described the move as an opportunity to provide listeners with award-winning national news coverage while expanding the variety of weekend programming available on the Keene-based station.
WKBK has long served as the Monadnock Region’s primary local news and talk radio outlet, providing local news, weather, sports and community information alongside national programming.
