KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A former Keene High School volleyball coach and former employee of a Keene recovery organization is facing two felony sexual assault charges stemming from allegations involving a teenager.
Todd Schillinger, 62, of Swanzey, waived arraignment and extradition rights in Cheshire County Superior Court last week. Court records show both prosecutors and defense attorneys submitted separate proposed bail orders, but ultimately agreed to the state’s conditions without the need for a hearing.
A Cheshire County grand jury indicted Schillinger in May on one count of felonious sexual assault and one count of attempted felonious sexual assault.
According to the indictment, Schillinger is charged with orally assaulting with a person between the ages of 13 and 15 on or about April 10, 2026 and allegedly attempting to rape the teenager again a few days later.
As part of the agreed-upon bail order, Schillinger remains free on personal recognizance but is subject to a number of restrictions. He is prohibited from having any direct or indirect contact with the alleged victim, identified in court documents by initials, or the victim’s family. He also must stay at least 300 feet away from them.
The court additionally ordered that Schillinger have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18 who is not a relative. He is also barred from using the Internet except for limited purposes related to employment, financial matters and email.
Other conditions require him to remain in New Hampshire, refrain from possessing firearms or other weapons, avoid alcohol and controlled substances, and comply with all court appearances and protective orders.
Court records also show Schillinger signed a waiver of extradition, agreeing that if he is located in another state while the case is pending, he may be returned to New Hampshire without formal extradition proceedings.
Prior to the indictment, Schillinger had already been released from custody under conditions that prohibited contact with the alleged victim and family members.
Schillinger previously coached boys volleyball at Keene High School during the late 2000s and early 2010s. More recently, he worked at the Serenity Center in Keene, a nonprofit organization that provides recovery support services.
The case remains pending in Cheshire County Superior Court. Schillinger has not entered a plea. Under the court’s waiver of arraignment, the matter will proceed through the criminal court process without an in-person arraignment hearing.
