JAFFREY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Park Theatre’s longtime chief executive will retire later this year, marking the end of a decade-long tenure that coincided with the transformation of the Jaffrey venue into one of the region’s premier arts destinations.
The Board of Trustees of The Park Theatre announced Tuesday that CEO and Managing Director Steve Jackson plans to leave his position on Dec. 31, 2026.
Jackson’s connection to the theater began in 2013 when he volunteered his marketing expertise to support the organization. Three years later, trustees selected him to lead the effort to rebuild and relaunch the historic theater as a modern performing arts venue.
Since taking the helm in 2016, Jackson has overseen a period of significant growth for the downtown Jaffrey theater. Under his direction, the venue expanded its programming and attracted nationally known performers, including Garrison Keillor and Judy Collins, while also hosting premieres of major motion pictures.
The theater also broadened its role in the cultural community through partnerships with organizations such as the Ashuelot Concerts, the Peterborough Folk Music Society, Electric Earth Concerts and Project Shakespeare.
Among the initiatives launched during Jackson’s tenure were annual events including Shamrock Fest and Dickens Fest, as well as a Filmmakers Series that brings directors, producers and other industry professionals to Jaffrey for screenings and discussions with audiences.
In announcing his retirement, Jackson reflected on the theater’s evolution from a volunteer-driven effort into a major arts institution serving the Monadnock Region.
Trustees praised Jackson’s leadership and credited him with helping establish the theater as a cultural anchor for the community.
Board President Nancy Belletete said the organization has begun the process of finding its next executive leader. A search committee made up of board members and community representatives is being assembled to identify candidates for the position.
