CHESHIRE COUNTY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services (HCS) is looking for volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to residents in Hinsdale on Tuesdays and Thursdays, helping ensure community members receive both nutritious meals and regular personal contact.

The organization is seeking volunteers to fill the routes as soon as possible. Drivers will collect meals at the HCS office at 312 Marlboro St. in Keene before delivering them to Hinsdale residents.

For some recipients, a volunteer’s arrival provides an important opportunity to connect with another person, in addition to receiving a meal.

“Without Meals on Wheels, some of our clients wouldn’t see anyone for days,” said Erik Baker, associate director of community support programs at HCS. “Our drivers and our volunteers fill a vital role not only in the nutritional support of our neighbors, but in the social and human-interaction side of things, too.”

HCS also needs volunteers to deliver meals in Keene one or two days per week. The service relies on community members to help maintain its delivery routes and provide consistent support to people who depend on the program.

Those interested in volunteering can contact HCS at events@hcsservices.org or call 603-352-2253 to learn more about the commitment and next steps. All Meals on Wheels volunteers must complete the organization’s required screening process.

HCS also welcomes inquiries from people interested in volunteering in other areas of its work.
