(MyKeeneNow) – Vermont State Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred Monday afternoon in Rockingham believed to be connected to two other robberies at banks in Brattleboro and Bellows Falls.
The suspects, a man and a woman, are believed to be involved in multiple criminal activities and are considered armed and dangerous.
At approximately 2 p.m. yesterday, Vermont State Police officers from the Westminster Barracks, along with detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Troop B East, responded to a reported robbery attempt at the Rolling Twenties Dispensary on Rockingham Road. The suspects entered the establishment demanding cash and marijuana but fled before obtaining any goods.
The male suspect is described as a white male around 40 years old, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall, and wearing a white or light gray long-sleeved Henley shirt over a dark undershirt, gray sweatpants, and brown work boots. He was seen with short brown hair, a black baseball cap with a white stripe, dark sunglasses, blue latex gloves, and a black N-95 mask. A bulge on his right hip suggested he was armed.
The female suspect is also around 40 years old, shorter at about 4 feet 11 inches, and heavier-set. She was wearing a dark blue or black hooded fleece, tight blue jeans, and a brown leather belt, with red hair tucked under a short-brimmed black cap. She, too, was wearing dark sunglasses, blue latex gloves, and a black N-95 mask.
The suspects fled the scene in a blue 2021 Chevrolet Silverado short-bed pickup truck with New Hampshire license plate number 527 0106. The vehicle was later seen in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, where it evaded police and crossed into Massachusetts.
Local police departments in Bellows Falls and Brattleboro are conducting parallel investigations of this incident and the two bank robberies.
The connection between these robberies and a police pursuit that spanned Keene, Swanzey, and Richmond, New Hampshire, before entering Massachusetts around 4:30 p.m., is still under investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about these incidents to contact the Vermont State Police at the Westminster Barracks by calling 802-722-4600 or emailing Detective Sgt. Dan Hall at daniel.hall@vermont.gov. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
