KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – After nearly two decades of service at the helm of the Monadnock Conservancy, Ryan Owens will be stepping down as executive director to take on a new role with the New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF).

Owens, who has been with the Conservancy for 16 years, is set to lead NEFF as its executive director beginning in November, according to a news release from the organization.

Owens’ tenure at the Monadnock Conservancy has been marked by significant achievements, including the protection of nearly 24,000 acres of forests, farmland, and wetlands throughout southwestern New Hampshire, the release said.

The New England Forestry Foundation is a leading advocate for sustainable forestry and climate change mitigation.

Deputy Director Lacy Gillotti will step in as the Conservancy’s interim executive director.

The Conservancy’s Board has already initiated a national search for Owens’ permanent replacement. Meanwhile, the organization has assured its supporters that the transition will not affect its ongoing conservation efforts, including monitoring protected lands, maintaining trail systems, and tackling invasive species.
