KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation across Western North Carolina, a local restaurant is stepping up to support the recovery efforts.

Guerrilla Grill, co-owned by Adam Rector, a Western North Carolina native who recently relocated to the Keene area, is partnering with Queen of the South BBQ in Chester, VT, to provide critical aid to those affected by the storm.

Hurricane Helene, which made landfall in Florida during the early hours of Sept. 27 before sweeping into the Carolinas, left a trail of destruction in its wake. Towns across the region have been devastated, with many families left without shelter, food, or access to clean drinking water. Relief efforts like these are crucial in providing immediate aid to those affected.

Western North Carolina, the owner’s home for 33 years, has been particularly hard hit. “Our hearts are heavy this past week with everything going on back home,” the owner shared in a social media post. “We have many loved ones directly affected, searching for food and water.”

In response, Guerrilla Grill and Queen of the South BBQ are launching a relief mission. On October 16, a team including Ronica Humphrey, her husband, Thomas, and several local volunteers will travel to the affected areas to deliver much-needed food and water to families and first responders working tirelessly to rebuild.

In the meantime, Guerrilla Grill is collecting donations to support the effort. From now until Oct. 15, community members are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items and cases of water at the restaurant at 176 Main St. Monetary donations are also being accepted both at Guerrilla Grill and via their Venmo account (@GuerrillaGrill). The goal is to raise enough funds and supplies to ensure the relief truck is fully stocked when it departs for North Carolina.

The Guerrilla Grill team is calling on the Keene community to come together in support of this cause. “We’re counting on our Keene brothers and sisters to assist a part of our nation that is in dire need of help. Thank you so much in advance for all who can help, and as always—can’t wait to feed ya!” owners wrote.

Hurricane Helene’s impact has been widespread, leaving many regions struggling to recover from the severe flooding, power outages, and infrastructure damage. Relief efforts like these are crucial in providing immediate aid to those affected.

For anyone looking to contribute, donations of food, water, or funds can be dropped off at Guerrilla Grill, and online donations are being accepted via Venmo.
