WALPOLE N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – One person is dead and another was injured in a crash involving a school bus from the Fall Mountain Regional School Wednesday afternoon.

The crash was reported shortly after 3:15 p.m. Wednesday on Route 12 in Walpole near Blackjack Crossing Road.

According to the district, the bus was transporting two students from Keene.

Walpole Police say the other motorist involved appears to have crossed the center line and collided with the bus. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene, while the driver of the school bus was airlifted to a hospital in Massachusetts for treatment.

The two students on the bus were taken to the hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

The Walpole Police Department posted on Facebook around 4 p.m. and said that Route 12 was closed in the area of Halls Crossing and Blackjack Crossing roads, and asked drivers to seek alternate routes.

As of 5:30 Wednesday afternoon the road remains closed.
