KEENE, NH – After a few years in business, Recycled Percussion has announced they’ll be closing the original Laconia Chaos and Kindness retail store, along with the Keene location.

Justin Spencer, who formed the band back in 1995, made the announcement on the official Recycled Percussion Facebook page Thursday afternoon. He said operating the two stores no longer aligned with his goals, and he wants to create one Recycled Percussion experience under one roof.

“I want to create ONE experience that everyone needs to witness, I want to put all my eggs into one basket, one epic location that brings everyone together, that exudes creativity, and becomes a must experience place,” Spencer said. “That place will be the completely redesigned CAKE THEATRE in Laconia, NH.”

CAKE stands for Chaos and Kindness Experience. Renovations began at the theater a few months ago and both stores will be moving into that space.

“The Cake will be fully renovated, and we will create the ultimate retail experience and live show experience,” he said.

The Keene store’s last day will be April 28th, and all proceeds from merchandise sold that day will be donated to local charities.

At the original Laconia store, the final day of business will be sometime in mid-May ahead of the grand opening of the CAKE Theater at the end of May, and the start of Recycled Percussion’s new show on June 1st.

“This has been an emotional decision in so many ways, I love the community in Keene, and I love the memories of our first store, but they no longer fit my dreams and I need to do what feels right or I won’t have the passion for the immense amount of work it requires to do this,” Spencer continued.

The Laconia store opened in September 2019, followed by the Keene location at 18 Main Street two years later.

“I chose Keene because I LOVE that area and it’s also a special place to me. Our band had two of its biggest break through moments in history in that town,” Spencer said.

Spencer will provide weekly progress updates, most likely on the Recycled Percussion Facebook page, as the renovation continues.
