KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Families in Keene will soon have more childcare options as the Keene Family YMCA takes over operations at Footsteps Daycare & Learning Center.
The transition, set to be finalized March 31, will rebrand the facility as the YMCA Children’s Learning Center South, according to a news release.
Shantel Voisine, who founded Footsteps over two decades ago, reflected on the impact the center has had on the community. She shared her appreciation for the opportunity to support local families and expressed confidence that the YMCA will uphold the same standard of care that families have come to trust.
To maintain consistency for children and parents, all current Footsteps staff members will be joining the YMCA team, ensuring a seamless transition with familiar caregivers. the release said.
Katie Gregory, Director of Childcare Services at the Keene Family YMCA, highlighted the importance of expanding access to reliable childcare. She noted that Footsteps has been a valuable resource for families, and the YMCA is excited to build upon its foundation while incorporating additional programs and support.
The Keene Family YMCA’s Children’s Learning Center is licensed by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services and participates in the Granite Steps for Quality program, which helps improve childcare standards statewide. Families enrolled in YMCA childcare also receive a complimentary youth membership, providing discounts on programs like swimming and gymnastics, as well as access to activities such as rock climbing and ninja training.
