WALPOLE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – Alyson’s Orchard in Walpole is reporting a record-breaking Honeycrisp apple crop this year, with more than 1,000 bushels already in cold storage and the first round of picking still underway.

In a recent social media post, the orchard said it could see more than 3,000 bushels of Honeycrisp apples harvested this season while still having plenty available for pick-your-own customers.

The orchard described this year’s harvest as its most beautiful Honeycrisp crop in more than 10 years and is looking for additional wholesale customers to help sell the abundant supply. The orchard is reaching out to other orchards experiencing lighter crops, as well as local stores interested in carrying the apples.

Despite the strong harvest, the orchard cautioned that next year’s production could look very different.

According to the post, a frost in 2023 contributed to an alternating production pattern in the trees, resulting in a heavy crop this year despite extensive hand-thinning efforts. That pattern could lead to a significantly smaller harvest next season.

For now, the orchard is encouraging customers to enjoy this year’s abundant Honeycrisp crop while supplies last.
