KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Keene State College will recognize four women for their dedication to education and mentorship during its annual Outstanding Women of New Hampshire ceremony on March 27. The event, part of the school’s Women’s History Month celebrations, highlights individuals who have made a significant impact in their communities.
This year’s honorees include Masheri Chapelle, Rose Kundanis, Nancy Peck, and Marianne Mederos. The theme of the ceremony, “Moving Forward Together! Educating & Inspiring Generations,” underscores the role each of these women has played in shaping the lives of students and professionals alike.
Chapelle, an author and executive director of the New Hampshire Writers’ Project, will receive the State of New Hampshire Award for her contributions to the literary community. Kundanis, a retired journalism professor at Keene State, will be honored with the Monadnock Region Award for her work in media education and journalism. Peck, a professor of education, will receive the Faculty/Staff Award for her efforts in early childhood special education and disability history research. Mederos, a senior at Keene State and president of the college’s Kappa Delta Pi chapter, will be recognized with the Student Award for her leadership in education initiatives.
Keene State President Melinda Treadwell praised the honorees, emphasizing their commitment to mentorship and learning. “Every one of these women has shown strength and conviction,” she said. “Their integrity shines, and they inspire others to explore, create, compete, and teach from the best part of themselves.”
The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Mabel Brown Room of the Lloyd P. Young Student Center, following a welcome reception at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public.
