Women’s Lacrosse
Junior midfielder Tess Brown (Londonderry, N.H.) was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week from her record setting performance over the week. Against Framingham State University, Brown’s first of her two goals on the day was her 100th career goal as she became the 20th Owl to reach the milestone in program history. In the Owls’ 16-6 LEC win over Vermont State University Castleton, Brown tied the KSC program record for the most goals scored in a single game as she tallied nine goals on only 10 shots (all of which were on goal). Her 110 goals now ranks her 16th all time in the Owls’ career goal list. Across the two games on the week, Brown also recorded a team-high of five caused turnovers, including a game-high of four caused turnovers against the Spartans. Brown also tied for the team-high with 10 draw control wins over the two games, tying for the game-high of six draw control wins.
Brown and the Owls return to action at home on Tuesday, April 1, at 6:30 p.m. against Worcester State University.
Women’s Outdoor Track and Field
Junior Molly Lu McKellar (Hebron, N.H.) was named the LEC Field Athlete of the Week from her performance at the Thrills in the Hills event hosted by Emory University over the past week. McKellar qualified for the New England Division III championships in just her first competition of the year in the heptathlon with a new personal best mark of 3,863 points. McKeller finished second in the event to Nikki Boon of Emory University, who was the national runner-up from the 2024 season as she finished second in five different events for the Owls, along with setting PRs in Javelin (31.30 meters) and 200 meters (27.76). McKeller bested her previous personal best mark of 3,853 points at last year’s New England Division III championships.
Freshman Drea Defreitas (Lowell, Mass.) was named the LEC Field Athlete of the Week from her performance at the University of Massachusetts Lowell Invitational at the Cushing Field Complex on Saturday. Defreitas won the women’s long jump at the meet as she recorded a mark of 5.19 meters on her first attempt of the day, which also qualified her for the New England Division III championships.
McKellar, Defreitas, and the Owls return to action on Saturday, April 5, at the Springfield College Classic.
Men’s Outdoor Track and Field
Junior Aidan Law (Higganum, Conn.) was named the LEC Field Athlete of the Week from his performance at the Thrills in the Hills competition over the past weekend for the Owls. In the long jump, Law set a mark of 7.01 meters as he placed third of 36 in the event, while in the 200 meters, his time of 21.96 of was the 15th best of 75 competing on the day.
Junior Kyle Thomas (Danbury, Conn.) was named the LEC Rookie Track Athlete of the Week from his record-setting performance in the Thrills in the Hills event this past weekend. Thomas broke the KSC record in the 100-meter event with a time of 10.77 as he beat Tom Neary’s time of 10.77 all the way back in 1977. Thomas’ time of 22.08 in the 200 meters placed him 18th in a field of 75 runners, as well, at the Thrills in the Hills event.
