MONADNOCK REGION, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A burst of wintry weather created hazardous driving conditions across the Monadnock Region Tuesday morning, with snow and rain combining to make roads slick and, in some cases, impassable.
In Gilsum, a section of Route 10 near Bingham Hill was closed early in the day due to dangerous conditions, according to the local fire department, which urged motorists to seek alternate routes and use caution.
Additional issues were reported throughout the region. A road closure in Marlborough along NH-124 between Troy Road and Old Toll Road temporarily disrupted traffic before being cleared. In Surry, a crash on NH-12 near Old Summit Road led to alternating one-lane traffic, though that incident was later resolved.
Despite relatively minor snow accumulation—expected to total less than an inch—the timing of the storm during the morning commute contributed to treacherous travel. Snow and rain showers were forecast to continue through midday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-40s.
Officials, including New Hampshire State Police, reminded drivers not to underestimate spring snow events. Motorists were advised to reduce speed, increase following distance, clear vehicles of snow and ice, and move over for stopped emergency vehicles.
Authorities said they would continue monitoring conditions and provide updates as needed.
