BRATTLEBORO, VT (MyKeeneNow) A Saturday morning crash on South Main Street sent two pedestrians to the hospital and resulted in a criminal citation for a local man.
Shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday, emergency crews from the Brattleboro police and fire departments responded to the scene of a single-vehicle incident involving two pedestrians. Authorities shut down a portion of South Main Street for approximately 90 minutes as they investigated the crash and provided emergency care.
Both pedestrians sustained serious injuries, but officials say the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. After being treated on scene by firefighters and paramedics, the victims were transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for further care.
Following an initial investigation, police determined that the driver, 59-year-old Rolf B. Parker-Houghton of Brattleboro, had allegedly operated his vehicle negligently, leading to the crash. He was issued a criminal citation and released from the scene.
Parker-Houghton is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court on June 3 to face a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
Police declined to release the names of the pedestrians, citing department policy.
