KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Leadership is changing at the Keene Family YMCA, where Chief Executive Officer Christy Sterbenz Filby is set to leave her position at the end of the week.
In a message to members, Board Chair Linda H. O’Donnell said Sterbenz Filby’s departure will take effect Friday, April 24. She recognized the outgoing CEO’s work during her tenure, pointing to facility improvements, growth in childcare offerings, and collaborations with other local nonprofits.
“We are grateful for her efforts and wish her the very best in her future endeavors,” O’Donnell said.
Stepping into the role on an interim basis will be Mick Blume, who currently serves as the organization’s development and community impact director. Blume is expected to begin in the position Monday.
Blume joined the YMCA in 2022 after a decade with the Red Sox Foundation. He and his family have since become active in the Keene community. According to O’Donnell, the board is confident in his leadership as the organization transitions.
The Keene YMCA, which has operated in the city for more than 140 years, serves approximately 6,600 members, according to its most recent annual report. Its programming includes childcare services for hundreds of children and summer camp opportunities for more than 800 participants each year.
Sterbenz Filby was selected as CEO in 2024 following a national search to replace former leader Dan Smith, who left to head the Greater Burlington YMCA.
The leadership transition comes shortly after the YMCA received recognition from the Greater Monadnock Collaborative, which honored the organization as Nonprofit of the Year at its annual gala for its work in youth development, healthy living, and childcare services.
O’Donnell said the board and staff remain committed to maintaining the programs and services members rely on during the transition.
