KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The City of Keene is once again inviting residents to roll up their sleeves and pitch in for Green Up Keene, the community-wide effort to clean up the city’s streets, trails, and parks. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, April 26 with volunteers fanning out across the city to help beautify public spaces.
A drive-thru supply pickup will be held that morning from 8 a.m. to noon at the Keene Public Works Department, located at 350 Marlboro Street. Volunteers can grab trash bags and other supplies either during the drive-thru or in advance by contacting
Typically drawing several hundred participants, Green Up Keene has become a cherished spring tradition. Volunteers of all ages come together to clean up litter and debris across Keene, making a visible and meaningful difference in neighborhoods and natural areas throughout the city.
Ahead of the event, the City’s Highway Division will be placing dumpsters at key locations, and on Monday, April 28, they’ll be collecting filled blue “NH the Beautiful” trash bags left by volunteers.
A map of cleanup zones is available online. Areas marked in green have already been adopted for 2025, tan areas are temporarily reserved for returning volunteers until April 18, and remaining zones are open to anyone interested. Residents can reserve a cleanup area by emailing Bixby or simply show up on the 26th to be assigned a location.
Those who wish to receive updates about future Green Up Keene events can subscribe to the city’s email list at KeeneNH.gov/subscribe by selecting Green Up Keene.
Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or a first-timer, the city encourages everyone to take part in this annual effort to keep Keene clean and vibrant.
