KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A Keene man received a suspended jail sentence this week after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge stemming from a 2024 crash in Chesterfield that seriously injured another driver.
Lucius Skiffington, 21, was sentenced in Cheshire County Superior Court to 270 days at the county jail, all suspended for 18 months, on a charge of vehicular assault. His driver’s license was revoked for 30 days.
The sentence follows a July 5, 2024, collision on Route 9 in Spofford. Police said Skiffington’s car crossed the center line and struck a minivan driven by Edmund Appel, also of Keene. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be freed by first responders, according to Chesterfield Police Chief Lance Rouse.
As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dropped a felony charge of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon.
