In the Owls’ first scored meet of their 2024-2025 season, the Keene State College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams hosted the Purple Knights from Saint Michael’s College on Saturday afternoon at the Spaulding Pool/Recreation Center. KSC picked up six event wins on the contest, but the men’s team was defeated, 212-76 and the women’s team fell, 174-126.
Four Keene State student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference for their performances during the week of October 7-13. Field hockey players Grace Seabury and Katelyn Nicotera earned honors, with Seabury named LEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Nicotera receiving Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Week awards. In women’s swimming and diving, Megan Strzegowski was named Diver of the Week, while freshman Madelynn Keyes earned Rookie Diver of the Week. Both teams will compete in upcoming home events.
The Keene State College men’s soccer team continued their unbeaten run, achieving a 2-2 draw against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) on Tuesday night at Dr. Ron Butcher Field.
The Keene Board of Education has unanimously voted to rename the small gymnasium at Keene High School in honor of David Minickiello, a cherished former wrestling coach and physical education teacher who passed away in April 2023. This 8-0 decision followed strong support from the community and former students, highlighting Minickiello’s immense impact on the school’s wrestling program.
Six Keene State College student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference for outstanding achievements during the week of September 30 to October 6.
Keene State College women’s soccer secured a 3-0 victory over UMass-Dartmouth, earning their first Little East Conference win of the season. Goals from Elizabeth Tschudin, Joclynn Tyler, and Allison Kenyon, along with five saves by goalkeeper Riley Andriski, ended KSC’s five-game scoreless streak. The Owls improve to 4-6-2 and next face Framingham State at home on Oct. 9.
Keene State College is hosting the 2024 Little East Conference (LEC) Men’s Golf Championship at the Keene Country Club, after a last-minute venue change from Western Connecticut. The two-day tournament begins on Wednesday, October 2, with six teams competing for the conference title. Keene State, last year’s runner-up, will rely on standout golfers Sean Bono and Sean McCaffrey as they aim for victory. Rounds start at 9:00 a.m. each day, and spectators are encouraged to attend and witness top collegiate golfers in action.
