KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – Two people were arrested after attempting to evade police in Keene Wednesday afternoon.

Keene Police officers responded to a report of suspicious people in the area of 89 Marlboro Street around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and located a silver Toyota Tacoma leaving the area with occupants consistent with the descriptions in the report.

Officers followed the vehicle and determined that the New Hampshire Veteran license plate on the vehicle was stolen.

When the vehicle reached the dead-end on Marlboro Street officers attempted to detain the female driver and the male passenger to investigate the stolen license plate. Both failed to comply with police demands.

The passenger, identified as Anthony Manning, 36, of Brentwood, New Hampshire got into the driver’s seat of the truck, which was ultimately determined to be a stolen vehicle, and hit a Keene Police cruiser before taking off on foot into the wooded area along Route 101. After a brief foot chase Manning was taken into custody.

Manning is being held at the Cheshire County House of Corrections pending arraignment today. He’s charged with felony counts of Criminal Mischief, two counts of Receiving Stolen Property – one for the truck and one for the license plate, Operating as a Habitual Offender, and Possession of Controlled Drugs. He’s also facing two misdemeanor charges of Disobeying an Officer and Resisting Arrest and was found to have warrants for his arrest from both the Concord and Manchester District Courts, Rockingham and Hillsborough County Superior Courts, and Hooksett Police on various charges.

The female suspect, identified as Misty Hayes, 47, of Manchester was also arrested and held at the Cheshire County House of Corrections. She is facing two felony counts of receiving stolen property for both the truck and the license plate, along with two violations – Operating After Suspension and Driving Without a Valid License.
