KEENE/WALPOLE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Savings Bank of Walpole is alerting customers to a rising text message scam designed to steal personal and financial information. The scam involves messages that appear to be from the bank but contain suspicious links and unusual formatting.

The fraudulent texts often include strange sender numbers, incorrect bank names or dollar amounts, and web links that do not match any official Savings Bank of Walpole domain. Bank officials emphasized that they will never ask customers to click a link in a text message or provide sensitive information like account numbers, PINs, or passwords via text.

“If you get a message like this, the best course of action is to delete it immediately,” the bank advised in its fraud warning.

To protect against potential fraud, the bank recommends customers enable transaction alerts, regularly monitor their accounts for unauthorized activity, and use strong passwords with two-factor authentication. Official messages from the bank’s fraud center will come from a verified five-digit number and will never contain a clickable link.

Anyone who suspects fraud or has fallen victim to a scam is urged to contact the bank immediately at 603-352-1822 or 1-877-WALPOLE. Staff can assist with freezing debit cards, updating credentials, and taking steps to prevent further harm.
