PETERBOROUGH, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) — A New Ipswich man died Thursday evening following a single-vehicle crash on Route 123 in the area of Upland Farm Road, according to the Peterborough Police Department.

Police and Peterborough Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2026, after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck a telephone pole. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle resting near a tree.

Sergeant Sweeney and Patrolman Lindberg reported that the driver appeared to be experiencing a medical emergency. With assistance from fire personnel, the driver was removed from the vehicle and found to be unconscious and not breathing.

Life-saving measures were immediately initiated at the scene. The driver was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver was identified as Matthew Zinicola of New Ipswich.

Route 123 was closed to traffic while emergency crews worked at the scene and reopened at approximately 8:50 p.m.

Peterborough Police were assisted by Peterborough Fire & Rescue, the New Ipswich Police Department and Steve’s Towing.

The incident remains under investigation. Police said there is no indication of suspicious or criminal activity at this time.
