KEENE, N.H. – Minor traffic delays are expected today as the City of Keene’s contractor will be paving Island Street adjacent to the new bridge.
Equipment and materials will be backed into the Island Street work zone approximately 50 feet north and south of the bridge, according to the Keene Public Works Department. Access into and out of driveways abutting the bridge may be temporarily restricted.
It’s requested that drivers go slowly and watch for equipment and laborers in the work zone.
According to the project website, it will reconstruct and improve Winchester Street from the Route 101 roundabout to the bridge over the Ashuelot River. New roundabout intersections at Key Road and Riverside Plaza and Pearl and Island Streets are included.
In line with the City’s Complete Streets Policy, the project will address the needs of all users, including bicyclists and pedestrians.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
