CONCORD, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) — State safety officials are reminding New Hampshire residents and visitors to plan ahead for a safe ride home as Super Bowl LX approaches. The New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety is urging anyone who plans to drink alcohol or use drugs during the game to avoid getting behind the wheel and to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.

According to the New Hampshire Department of Safety’s Division of Motor Vehicles, 25 people were arrested statewide on impaired driving-related charges during last year’s Super Bowl weekend. Officials say those numbers underscore the importance of planning ahead before celebrations begin.

New Hampshire Department of Safety Assistant Commissioner Eddie Edwards encouraged fans to look out for one another. He said people celebrating with friends or family should make sure everyone has a safe way home, whether that means designating a sober driver, using a ride-share service, or taking public transportation where available.

Law enforcement agencies across the state, including State Police, local departments, and county sheriff’s offices, will increase patrols throughout the weekend to identify and stop suspected impaired drivers. In addition, the Office of Highway Safety is promoting a football-themed public service announcement through Sunday featuring students from Plymouth State University.

New Hampshire State Police Lt. Christopher Storm said road safety depends on responsible choices by drivers, noting that planning ahead can help ensure everyone gets home safely.

Officials also warned that driving while intoxicated carries serious consequences, including thousands of dollars in fines and fees, license suspension, mandatory alcohol education programs, and higher insurance costs. The Office of Highway Safety thanked law enforcement agencies and motorists alike for their efforts to keep New Hampshire roads safe during the holiday weekend.
