Wednesday, July 3:
Keene’s Independence Eve Celebration
- When: Ball game at 6:35 p.m.
- Where: Alumni Field, Keene High School, 77 Arch St.
- Details: The SwampBats will play against the Vermont Mountaineers, followed by fireworks. The event includes bounce houses, Games2Go, and food vendors like Tito’s Tacos and Donuts for Dingers. Tickets are $4-$6, with free entry for kids under 10 and military personnel.
Hinsdale’s “The Night Before The Fourth”
- When: 5 p.m.
- Where: Field near the school off Route 119
- Details: Despite initial plans to forgo fireworks, Hinsdale will now feature them along with food, games, and live music by Groove Prophet. Parking is $5 per car, with proceeds supporting the Class of 2025. The event will proceed rain or shine.
Greenville’s Annual Pots and Pans Parade
- When: 8 p.m.
- Where: Town Field, Greenville
- Details: Festivities begin with activities at the Town Field, followed by fireworks at 11:20 p.m. The Pots and Pans Parade kicks off at midnight with the theme “Light Up Greenville.” Participants are encouraged to make their floats glow. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for the best entries.
Thursday, July 4:
Brattleboro’s 51st Annual “By the People: Brattleboro Goes Fourth” Celebration:
- When: Parade at 10 a.m.
- Where: Starting at Flat Street up through Main Street and ending at the town common.
- Details: The parade will be followed by family activities and fireworks at Living Memorial Park. The festivities include concerts, sporting events, and performances, with fireworks concluding the day at 9:30 p.m.
Readings of the Declaration of Independence:
- Antrim: 8:30 am at Memorial Park, followed by band music and refreshments.
- Jaffrey: Noon at the Jaffrey Meetinghouse, followed by an ice cream social. Thirty-eight readers will recite sections of the Declaration, concluding with a community rendition of “Yankee Doodle” and the ringing of the tower bell.
98th Annual Independence Day Ceremony
- When: 10 to 11 a.m.
- Where: Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St, Peterborough.
- Details: The Monadnock Center will host its traditional flag raising, reading of the Declaration of Independence, and a talk by former U.S. Congressman and Peterborough native, Charles Bass. This annual ceremony, a tradition since 1926, invites the community to come together and celebrate the nation’s history.
Keene’s 22nd Annual 4 on the 4th Road Race
- When: Thursday, July 4, 2024, Walkers start at 7:30 am, Runners at 8:00 am
- Where: Railroad Square, Main Street.
- Details: This four-mile race supports Pathways for Keene, Inc. and typically attracts over 400 participants.
Saturday, July 6:
Winchester’s Fourth of July Family Fun Event
- When: 4 to 9 p.m.
- Where: ELMM Community Center, 21 Durkee St.
- Details: A family-friendly event featuring food, music, bouncy houses, snow cones, and cotton candy, with a suggested donation of $5 to offset fireworks costs.
