MONADNOCK REGION, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) There’s a full slate of entertainment and community events across the Monadnock Region and southern Vermont this weekend, from comedy and live music to an auction supporting a historic church. Here’s a look at some of the events taking place Friday and Saturday.

Friday, Aug. 7

Paula Poundstone

Comedian Paula Poundstone brings her observational humor and quick wit to The Park Theatre, 19 Main St., Jaffrey, at 7:30 p.m.

Poundstone is a regular panelist on NPR’s “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” and hosts the comedy podcast “Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone.” She also voiced the character Forgetter Paula in the animated films “Inside Out” and “Inside Out 2.”

HannaH’s Field Featuring Sky Alan

HannaH’s Field will perform at Marigold, 157 Main St., Brattleboro, Vermont, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The group blends jam-band music, drum-circle rhythms, healing chants and beach reggae. The band has performed with artists including Derek Trucks, Donna Jean Godchaux, Gov’t Mule and members of the Allman Brothers Band. The show is listed as free admission.

Saturday, Aug. 8

Auction To Support Stoddard Congregational Church

A live and silent auction benefiting preservation work at the historic Stoddard Congregational Church will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at LakeFalls Lodge, 750 Aten Road, Stoddard.

The silent auction and item preview begin at 8 a.m., followed by the live auction at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Proceeds will support efforts to preserve the 1830s church building.

Nelson Town Band at Nelson Old Home Days

The Nelson Town Band will perform from noon to 12:45 p.m. in front of the church during Nelson Old Home Days in Nelson.

The concert will feature the community band performing a selection of tunes as part of the annual celebration. In case of rain, the performance will move to Town Hall.

Tribute to the Monsters of Rock

The Clubhouse Bar and Grill, 32 Hastings Court, Charlestown, will host an outdoor tribute festival from noon to 11 p.m. featuring tribute bands honoring Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, Poison, AC/DC and Mötley Crüe.

The all-ages event will feature live music throughout the day, with food and drinks available. Admission is listed at $40 in advance, with the event scheduled to take place rain or shine.

Celebrating Jerry Garcia And The Grateful Dead

The Keystones return to Harlow’s Pub, 3 School St., Peterborough, at 7 p.m. for an evening celebrating the music of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.

The performance will focus on the musical legacy of Garcia and the Grateful Dead in an intimate pub setting.

Seven Times Salt: From Plimoth to Yorktown

The Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St., Peterborough, will host the acclaimed early-music ensemble Seven Times Salt at 7:30 p.m.

“From Plimoth to Yorktown” takes audiences on a musical journey through early America, from English catches and early shape-note hymns to songs of liberty, wartime music and dance tunes associated with George Washington. The program also includes a Yankee Doodle singalong.

Singer/Songwriter Showcase

Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill, Putney, Vermont, will present a singer/songwriter showcase beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The concert features Joy Clark, Luke Concannon, Midnight Betty and Lizzy Mandell. The evening will open with an intimate in-the-round set featuring Concannon, Mandell and Midnight Betty before Clark and her quartet perform the featured set.

DiTrani Brothers And Splendid Torch

The Stone Church, 210 Main St., Brattleboro, Vermont, will host DiTrani Brothers and Splendid Torch beginning at 8 p.m.

The DiTrani Brothers combine Balkan influences with early American jazz and swing, using driving rhythms and unconventional melodies. Splendid Torch will also perform during the evening.

Saturday, Aug. 8

Jamfest

Jamfest will bring a day of free live music to the parking lot between The Colonial Theatre and SHOWROOM at 20 Commercial St., Keene, from noon to 8 p.m.

The lineup includes Parker McQueeney’s Doomsday Device from 1:20 to 2:20 p.m., Chill Sesh and Friends from 2:40 to 3:40 p.m., Saguaro from 4 to 5 p.m., Omoo Omoo from 5:20 to 6:20 p.m., and The Evocatives and All Night Boogie Band from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Doors open at noon, and admission is free.

26 Pebbles

Actors Theatre Playhouse, 21 Main St., West Chesterfield, will present Eric Ulloa’s acclaimed docudrama “26 Pebbles” at 7:30 p.m.

The production, based on extensive interviews with residents of Newtown, Connecticut, explores the community’s struggle to cope with the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The play gives voice to parents, teachers, first responders and community leaders as they confront grief, anger and the long process of healing.

“26 Pebbles” also will be performed Aug. 9, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21 and 22. Tickets are $17, with advance reservations recommended because seating is limited.

Will Lawrence & Footings

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Will Lawrence will perform with Footings at 7:30 p.m. at Hancock Depot Cabaret, 27 Depot Road, Hancock,

Lawrence, whose music combines finger-style guitar with parlor pop and pastoral balladry, released his fifth studio album, “Rooftops in the Centerfolds,” in 2025. He is also a member of The Felice Brothers, Ryan Davis and the Roadhouse Band, and John Early and the Lemon Squares.

Suggested donation for this show is $15.

Sunday, Aug. 9

26 Pebbles

Actors Theatre Playhouse will present a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee of “26 Pebbles,” Eric Ulloa’s docudrama about the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The production features six actors portraying the voices of Newtown residents based on extensive interviews conducted by Ulloa. The play examines the grief and healing experienced by a community following the 2012 tragedy.

Tickets are $17. Additional performances are scheduled Aug. 14, 15, 16, 20, 21 and 22.

Star Lane Sox And Scott Hsu

Stage 33 Live, 33 Bridge St., Bellows Falls, Vermont, will host Star Lane Sox and Scott Hsu at 3 p.m. as part of its Local Curator concert series.

Star Lane Sox is an indie-punk guitar-and-drums duo featuring Olivia Nied, while Hsu is a multi-instrumentalist whose music blends soul-searching rock and pop with electronic beats, live looping, synthesizers, guitar and vocal effects.

Tickets are $20, with proceeds going to the performers. Only 40 tickets will be sold, and advance tickets guarantee admission.

Ken Burns Presents Jackie Robinson

The Park Theatre, 19 Main St., Jaffrey, will host a screening of “Ken Burns Presents Jackie Robinson” at 4 p.m. as a fundraiser for the theater.

The film tells the story of Jackie Robinson, who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier and later became an outspoken advocate against racial discrimination. The screening is part of The Park Theatre’s Summer Baseball Movie Series and offers a preview of the two-part miniseries about Robinson’s life.

Tickets are $25 for general admission. VIP tickets are $40 and include a wine reception beginning at 3 p.m., as well as admission to the film. Directors, producers and writers Sarah Burns and David McMahon will participate in a post-film question-and-answer session.

Matt Savage: No Jazz Allowed

The Old Meeting House of Francestown, 1 New Boston Road, will host Francestown native Matt Savage from 4 to 5 p.m. for a free concert.

Savage, an acclaimed jazz pianist, bandleader and composer, will present “No Jazz Allowed,” featuring pop songs from the past 50 years performed in a straight-ahead jazz style. The program will feature a variety of tempos and musical styles.

Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic and a chair or blanket. The concert will move indoors in case of inclement weather. Donations are welcome.

Twilight On The Tavern Lawn: Planet Zydeco

Planet Zydeco will bring the music of southwest Louisiana to Putney Tavern Lawn, 133 Main St., Putney, Vermont, at 6 p.m.

The New England-based group performs traditional zydeco with accordion, rubboard, fiddle, guitar, bass and drums. The free outdoor concert is part of the Twilight on the Tavern Lawn series and will invite attendees to dance and enjoy the music.

Guests should bring a lawn chair or blanket. In case of rain, the concert will move indoors to Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill, Putney, Vermont.
