KEENE, N.H. – (MyKeeneNow) – The Savings Bank of Walpole announced the recipients of this year’s Julie Tewksbury Scholarship for Working Moms: Kimberly Allsopp and Alexa Plewa. Both women have been awarded $1,000 scholarships.

The scholarship, in its fourth year, supports working mothers who strive for personal and professional growth, aspiring to be leaders in their respective fields and communities. The scholarship honors Julie Tewksbury, a long-time bank employee and working mom who retired as senior vice president of operations in 2020. Applications were evaluated by a panel consisting of community leaders, bank staff, and Julie Tewksbury herself.

Allsopp is a veterinarian at Court Street Veterinary Hospital and a mother of two young boys. Over the past eight years, she has also served as the secretary on the board of directors for the local nonprofit Rise for Baby and Family. Allsopp is focused on advancing her skills in ultrasound diagnostics, a critical yet underserved area in veterinary medicine. Her goal is to provide on-site ultrasound training to veterinarians in rural New England communities.

Plewa, of Keene, an educator, has 16 years of experience working on projects that have lasting impacts on children and families. Through her consulting company, Andylex Youth Programs, she has developed family childcare networks locally and statewide. Her initiatives include The Bringing it Home Project and Monadnock Family Child Care Network in collaboration with the Monadnock Economic Development Corporation. Plewa plans to use her scholarship to attend the National Association of Family Child Care annual conference in St. Louis.
