KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Maple Avenue is set to reopen to traffic Friday evening following a weeklong closure tied to red pine removal work in Dinsmoor Woods.
City officials say the road will reopen at 6 p.m. on May 1, with highway crews beginning to remove barricades and cover signage starting around 5 p.m. to prepare for the transition.
The closure, which began earlier this week, allowed crews to safely harvest red pine trees infested with red pine scale, a condition that prompted the forest management effort.
While the roadway will return to normal traffic patterns, the project itself is not yet finished. Officials say tree processing and hauling will continue over the next seven to 10 days, meaning motorists may still see periodic work activity in the area.
Drivers are encouraged to remain alert and use caution as crews wrap up the remaining work.
City officials also thanked residents for their patience throughout the week, including those who navigated detours and increased traffic in nearby neighborhoods during the closure.
As previously reported, the project did not impact access to Cheshire Medical Center’s West Campus, and no school bus routes were affected due to the timing during school vacation week.
