KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Drivers in Keene should expect several temporary traffic changes over the coming days as a series of paving, sidewalk, and utility projects get underway throughout the city.

City officials said construction activity is scheduled in several neighborhoods beginning Monday, May 18, with crews working on roads, sidewalks, and sewer infrastructure through the week. Most projects will involve alternating one-way traffic during daytime work hours, though roads are expected to reopen to normal conditions at the end of each workday unless otherwise noted.

One of the largest projects will take place on Marlboro Street between the Main Street roundabout and Eastern Avenue. Contractors with Bazin Brothers are set to begin milling and excavating pavement Monday morning. The work is expected to continue through Friday, May 22, with alternating traffic in place while crews are on site.

In East Keene, contractors from Insituform will be performing sewer maintenance work, including pressure testing manholes and sealing sewer liners. The project is expected to last about three days and will also involve temporary one-lane traffic patterns in active work areas.

Additional sidewalk and curb work is planned near 160 Water Street, where BC Construction crews are scheduled to begin improvements Monday morning. That project is expected to take about three days.

On Magnolia Way, Pappas Construction will replace sections of sidewalk infrastructure starting Monday. Motorists may encounter alternating traffic and limited access while work is underway during the week.

A sewer lateral repair is planned for Green Acres Road near 34 Green Acres Road beginning Wednesday, May 20. City officials said traffic will shift around the work zone to maintain two-way travel, with repairs expected to be completed in a single day.

Drivers should also be aware of a temporary road closure planned for North Street between Carroll Street and Gilsum Street on Thursday, May 21. City paving crews are scheduled to work in the area beginning at 9 a.m., with the roadway expected to reopen by approximately 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, officials said no construction activity is planned this week on the George Street Bridge, which will remain open under normal traffic conditions.

City officials are encouraging motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians to slow down in work zones and allow extra travel time while projects are underway.
