NEW IPSWICH, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A 17-year-old Jaffrey resident suffered serious injuries Sunday evening after a dirt bike crash on private property in New Ipswich, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Emergency responders were dispatched around 6 p.m. on May 31 after receiving reports of the accident. Personnel from multiple agencies, including New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers, the New Ipswich, Jaffrey and Peterborough fire departments, Souhegan Valley Ambulance Service, and the New Ipswich Police Department, responded to the scene.

Investigators determined the teenager was operating a trail bike when he attempted a jump but traveled beyond the intended landing area, causing the motorcycle to come down on level ground.

Because of the severity of the injuries, first responders requested a medical helicopter. A landing zone was established at the New Ipswich Transfer Station, where the teen was transferred to a UMass Memorial LifeFlight helicopter and flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Authorities said the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers. No additional information about the rider’s condition was immediately available.
