SWANZEY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Town of Swanzey is preparing for another change in leadership after Town Administrator Lori Rautiola announced she will resign from her position effective July 3.

Town officials said Rautiola submitted her resignation on May 29 after accepting a position in the private sector. Her departure comes a little more than a year after she was hired to lead the town’s day-to-day operations.

Selectboard Chair Jim Tempesta thanked Rautiola for her service and said the board is grateful for the work she has done during her tenure.

“Lori will be missed by all,” Tempesta said in a statement. “While the Board is disappointed to see her leave, we appreciate her service to the Town and wish her continued success in the next chapter of her career.”

Rautiola was selected as Swanzey’s town administrator in April 2025 following a competitive search that attracted more than 20 applicants. At the time, town officials cited her background in municipal administration, project management, and community engagement as key factors in her selection. She succeeded former Town Administrator Michael Branley, who resigned in early 2025.

During her time in Swanzey, Rautiola worked with town staff and elected officials on a variety of municipal initiatives and projects.

In announcing her departure, Rautiola expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the community.

“I am thankful for the relationships, experiences, and even the challenges that came with serving in this role,” she said. “Those experiences have contributed greatly to both my personal and professional growth.”

The Swanzey Selectboard said it will begin the process of finding Rautiola’s successor in the coming weeks and is focused on ensuring a smooth transition before her departure.
