KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The City of Keene is seeking public input as it moves forward with plans for a proposed solar-powered pavilion on Gilbo Avenue.

A community engagement session will be held Wednesday, July 22, at 4 p.m. in Cohen Hall at the Keene Public Library, where residents, business owners and other interested community members can review three preliminary design concepts and provide feedback.

The proposed Gilbo Avenue Solar Pavilion is envisioned as a year-round gathering space that would combine mass timber construction with solar energy generation. City officials say the structure could support the Keene Farmers’ Market, food trucks, downtown festivals and other community events while serving as a flexible public space.

The meeting is part of the project’s conceptual design phase. Feedback collected during the session will help city officials determine which of the three proposed concepts will move forward for additional engineering and design work.

The meeting will begin with an overview of the project, followed by a discussion of the site’s existing conditions and project goals. City representatives will then present and compare the three pavilion concepts before opening the floor for questions and public discussion.

Attendees will also be asked to complete a brief feedback form, allowing them to identify their preferred design and offer comments that will help shape the project’s next phase.

City officials encourage anyone interested in the future of the proposed pavilion to attend and participate in the discussion.
