KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – G&H | Stingray’s US-based manufacturing site has achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification, marking a major milestone in the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

This certification, which sets international standards for environmental management systems (EMS), underscores G&H’s efforts to enhance eco-efficiency and reduce its environmental impact, according to a news release. The company plans to extend the certification process to other manufacturing sites in the future.

The ISO 14001:2015 standard focuses on improving environmental performance through resource efficiency and waste reduction., the release said. G&H’s adoption of this standard not only reflects its dedication to sustainable innovation but also reinforces its competitive position in the optics and photonics industry.

This industry, while contributing to the global carbon footprint, plays a key role in developing green technologies such as energy-efficient solutions and recycling innovations. The company’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035 aligns with these broader sustainability efforts, integral to the company’s mission of using photonics to create a better future.

The Keene site, part of the larger Gooch & Housego group, underwent a thorough assessment in May 2024, successfully meeting the rigorous requirements to secure the certification. Several eco-efficiency measures contributed to this success, including the installation of tinted windows to reduce summer heat, the purchase of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) for electricity, exploration of alternatives to propane heating, the use of LED and motion-activated lighting, and the implementation of paperless office processes.

G&H’s global expertise in environmental management played a pivotal role in securing the certification at the Keene site, which is the fifth G&H location to achieve this standard, now covering about 70 percent of the company’s workforce. The company plans to build on this success by engaging more actively with international sustainability codes of conduct, aiming for continual improvement and increased transparency with stakeholders.
