UPDATE THURSDAY 8/29/2024 7:20 A.M.

TROY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – New Hampshire’s Attorney General’s office has released an update on a suspicious death investigation in Troy.

Early this morning police responded to the Piscataqua River Bridge in Portsmouth for an ongoing incident. In an update shortly after 7:00 this morning, the AG’s office said the incident appears to have started with an adult male killing an adult female at a residence in Troy, New Hampshire overnight, then driving to the bridge.

Police engaged with the adult male on the bridge and that incident ended with the man being fatally shot. The Maine Attorney General’s office is investigating that officer-involved shooting.

New Hampshire authorities say police also found an 8-year-old child fatally shot inside the man’s vehicle.

The exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain under active investigation and the bridge in Portsmouth remains closed in both directions. Traffic is being diverted to the two other local bridges in the area.

The AG’s office says there is no known threat to the general public, and more information will likely be released later today.

This is a developing story and will be updated as additional information is released.
