KEENE, NH – Voters in Keene will head to the polls Tuesday, November 7th to cast their ballots to elect a new Mayor, along with Ward Councilors, Councilor At-large, and two charter amendment questions.

There are eight candidates looking to fill five available at-large seats. Incumbents include Councilors Mike Remy, Kate Bosley, Bettina Chadbourne, and Randy Filiault. Newcomers include Edward Haas, Ashok Bahl, Cora Elliot, and former councilor Terry Clark.

As far as Ward councilors are concerned, there are races in Wards 2, 3, and 5. Incumbent Raleigh Ormerod is running unopposed in Ward 1, and Laura Tobin is unopposed in Ward 4.

Mayor George Hansel announced back in the spring that he would not be seeking a third term as Mayor. Former District 10 State Senator Jay Kahn will appear on the ballot as a candidate for mayor, against Bradford Hutchinson.

The first charter question would change how the city handles municipal primary elections, and would only concern the races for Mayor, Ward Councilor, and Councilor At-Large. The second question is some related housekeeping changing some language in the first question passes. Keene City Clerk Patty Little explained further, that discussion is available here.

Polls will be open from 8 am to 7 pm in the following locations:
Ward 1: Michael E.J. Blastos Community Room
400 Marlboro Street (adjacent to Keene Police Department)
Ward 2: Keene Parks & Rec. Dept.
312 Washington Street
Ward 3: Keene Middle School
167 Maple Avenue
Ward 4: Symonds School
79 Park Avenue
Ward 5: Monadnock Covenant Church
90 Base Hill Road
Anyone who is unsure of what ward they live in should visit the city’s website.

WKBK will be live on the air from 7-8pm reporting unofficial results as they come in.
