NEW IPSWICH, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A Greenville man was seriously injured Saturday morning after being thrown from an all-terrain vehicle while riding on private property in New Ipswich, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game officials.

New Hampshire State Police Dispatch received a report of the crash at about 10:15 a.m. The crash occurred at a sand pit off Appleton Road.

Kevin Parenteau, 55, was riding an ATV with two other people when the vehicle became airborne and traveled a short distance before landing perpendicular to its direction of travel, officials said. Parenteau was ejected from the ATV and suffered significant injuries.

New Ipswich firefighters and police officers, Souhegan Valley Ambulance, Peterborough Ambulance and a New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officer responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. Investigators said preliminary findings indicate operator error may have contributed to the crash.

Fish and Game officials reminded ATV and other off-highway recreational vehicle operators to wear helmets and stay within their abilities when riding.
