PETERBOROUGH, N.H (MyKeeneNow) – Peterborough residents can return to their homes after police advised some to evacuate or shelter in place earlier this evening.
Shortly before 7:15 Tuesday evening an alert was sent using the town’s emergency notification system advising residents in the Pineridge neighborhood, including Keenan Drive, Nichols Road, Taylor Road, Currier Ave, Tarbell Road, and the surrounding area, to evacuate if possible or shelter in place due to a “police emergency” on Keenan Drive.
The Town House on Grove Street was open for a few hours but closed shortly after 10 p.m. Displaced residents were told to stay with friends until the issue was resolved.
At about 8:10 Tuesday evening Police said that the incident was contained to the Keenan Drive area, and residents outside of that area were not in any danger.
The shelter in place order was lifted at about 11:45 Tuesday night as the subject was taken into custody and residents were free to return to their homes.
Police did not immediately release any further information, but said that a press release will follow.
This is a developing story, My Keene Now will provide updates as they become available.
