CHESTERFIELD, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) An 82-year-old Chesterfield man was rescued Monday evening after calling 911 to report he was lost in the woods while walking the boundary of his property, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.

After spending about an hour trying to find his way back, Aaron Lipsky contacted emergency dispatch as his cellphone battery was running low.

Responders from the Chesterfield Police Department, Spofford Fire Department and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department all responded to the area. Fish and Game said a conservation officer used mapping software to determine Lipsky’s location and provide him with general directions while rescue crews made their way to him.

Lipsky was found at about 5 p.m. in good health. He then walked about a half-mile under his own power to waiting emergency vehicles, arriving around 6 p.m.

Fish and Game is reminding hikers and others spending time outdoors to prepare for unexpected situations by carrying the “10 essentials,” even on short outings. Additional hiking safety information is available at hikesafe.com.
