JAFFREY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A 53-year-old Massachusetts woman was rescued from Mount Monadnock on Sunday after suffering a serious injury near the mountain’s summit.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers were notified about the injured hiker at about 12:30 p.m. Sept. 6. Staff from Monadnock State Park reached the woman shortly afterward and began providing assistance.

The rescue effort brought together park personnel, several Fish and Game Conservation Officers, members of the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team and members of the public who stopped to help.

The injured hiker was identified as Neathery Brenzel, of Brookline, Massachusetts. Her injury was considered serious but was not life-threatening.

Rescuers carried Brenzel down the mountain, reaching the base at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Officials said Brenzel and the companions she was hiking with had been properly prepared for a day on Mount Monadnock.
