KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Dinner and drinks are on the menu with the latest Save Local Deals offer on MyKeeneNow.com, which now features Madame Sherri’s, the downtown Keene restaurant and cabaret known for its scratch-made food, lively entertainment calendar and commitment to community.
Located at 82 Main St. (in Railroad Square), Madame Sherri’s Restaurant and Cabaret opened in August 2024. Named after the legendary Chesterfield hostess Madame Sherri, whose extravagant Prohibition-era parties became part of local lore, the venue has evolved into one of the Monadnock Region’s most unique dining and entertainment destinations.
Through My Keene Now’s Save Local Deals program, customers can purchase discounted certificates that may be redeemed for food and beverages—this deal gets you $100 to spend when you spend $50. The certificates never expire, can be used over multiple visits and allow any unused balance to carry forward. They are valid for food and drinks but cannot be used for ticketed performances, special admission events or app-based delivery services.
Madame Sherri’s welcomes families during dinner service before transitioning into a 21-and-over cabaret venue after 9 p.m. The menu features elevated comfort food, including homemade macaroni and cheese, chicken schnitzel, Adam’s chicken sandwich, crispy Brussels sprouts and a popular gluten-free fish and chips entrée.
Co-owner Adam Toepfer said preparing food from scratch is one of the restaurant’s core values.
“There are a lot of things we do make. A lot of our sauces, our mac and cheese and all the pasta are made from scratch,” Toepfer said.
He added that the restaurant focuses on premium ingredients throughout the menu.
“We use the highest quality, freshest juices you can get, or squeeze juices ourselves,” Toepfer said. “Our sour mix and our juices are the best you can possibly get, and they make really amazing products.”
The venue’s entertainment schedule is equally ambitious, featuring full-stage karaoke, live music, comedy nights, trivia, themed dance parties, drag brunches and nationally recognized performers. Owners say they’ve worked to create a destination that offers something different from a traditional restaurant or bar.
Bringing those performers to southwestern New Hampshire isn’t always easy, according to co-owner Patrick Brown.
“If we were in a city where the performer has an opportunity to do three or four sold-out shows, it’s a lot easier, but we’re bringing people to a very rural area,” Brown said.
In addition to entertainment, Madame Sherri’s caters weddings, private parties and other events while hosting fundraisers for nonprofit organizations throughout the region.
Co-owner Paulee Mekdeci, who serves as vice president of the local organization, Keene Pride (Toepfer is president and Brown is on the board) said community involvement has been central to the business from the beginning.
“We also host fundraisers for a lot of nonprofits,” Mekdeci said. “We’ve been doing it for at least five years.”
