CHESHIRE COUNTY, N.H. (MyKeeneNow)  Two longtime Monadnock Region traditions return this weekend as Swanzey and Harrisville host their annual Old Home Days celebrations, offering parades, live entertainment, food, crafts and activities for all ages.

Swanzey’s Old Home Day takes place Saturday, July 18, with festivities centered in Swanzey Center and the Potash Bowl. The day begins with the annual parade at 10 a.m., followed by a full schedule of family-friendly activities.

Visitors can browse vendor booths and community exhibits, enjoy food from local organizations, and take part in the Kids Zone. The celebration also includes a children’s bike parade and decorating contest, a pie-eating contest beginning at 12:30 p.m., and live music starting around 11 a.m. and continuing throughout the afternoon.

Harrisville’s Old Home Days span three days, beginning Friday evening and concluding with fireworks Sunday night.

Festivities kick off Friday at 5 p.m. with community activities on Canal Street, followed by the annual library book sale, ice cream sundaes and a 6:30 p.m. concert by the Nelson Town Band.

Saturday’s celebration begins around 10 a.m. and features a craft fair, food vendors, children’s activities, face painting, live music, community exhibits and demonstrations throughout the historic mill village.

The weekend concludes Sunday evening with the annual fireworks display.
