HINSDALE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) A Sunday afternoon house fire in Hinsdale displaced residents and claimed the lives of three family pets, according to fire officials.
Firefighters were dispatched to a two-story home at 35 Pleasant St. shortly after 12:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a working structure fire. A second alarm was struck upon crews’ arrival as flames were visible from the front and side windows of the home, fire officials said.
According to fire officials, the fire originated on the first floor in the living room at the front of the house. Crews brought the blaze under control by approximately 1:10 p.m.
Three people safely escaped the home and no injuries were reported, fire officials said. However, two dogs and one cat died in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the full extent of the damage has not yet been determined, according to fire officials.
Fire departments from Hinsdale, Northfield, Winchester, Brattleboro and Keene responded to the scene, along with Southwestern New Hampshire District Fire Mutual Aid.
