KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneN0w) State and local authorities are investigating the deaths of two people who were discovered inside a Keene residence Tuesday morning.

According to officials, Keene police officers were dispatched to a home on Hurricane Road around 11:10 a.m. on June 16 after receiving a request to conduct a welfare check on the occupants.

When officers entered the residence, they found a 70-year-old woman and her 72-year-old husband deceased inside the home. Investigators said both individuals appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds.

The deaths are being treated as suspicious while detectives work to determine exactly what occurred. Authorities said the circumstances currently point toward a possible murder-suicide, though the investigation remains active.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is being led by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office in coordination with the Keene Police Department. Officials said autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Concord.

Authorities emphasized that there is no indication of any ongoing danger to the public.

Additional information, including the identities of the deceased and official causes and manners of death, is expected to be released after the autopsies are completed.
