BRATTLEBORO, VT (MyKeeneNow) A vehicle that was reportedly being pursued by Massachusetts State Police was found abandoned after crashing into a tree at Fort Dummer State Park in Brattleboro Thursday afternoon.

Brattleboro Police were alerted to the pursuit at about 2:40 p.m. Aug. 6, according to the department. Massachusetts State Police had reportedly deployed spike strips in an effort to stop the vehicle before it continued into Vermont.

Brattleboro officers later located the vehicle within Fort Dummer State Park. The vehicle had crashed into a tree and was unoccupied when officers arrived. The driver was not located.

The investigation involved the Brattleboro Police Department, Vermont State Police and the Windham County Sheriff’s Department. Police in Walpole, New Hampshire, also assisted with the investigation.

Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. Police added that there is no indication at this time of an ongoing threat to the public.
